Limited Edition Oreo Old Fashioned Candy Cane Creme Cookies!

That title is a moufful!

Photobucket

I was doing grocery shopping the other day, and not too many minutes after restocking on Edy's Peppermint ice cream, to what did my eyes appear but a big display of these suckers. Christmas definitely brings on the kid in me and I nearly peed all over myself and Wal-Mart at the sight of this fantastic (new?) addition to the holiday season.

Of course, I HAD to have them (grocery budget be darned). But let me tell you something... Yes, the packaging is cool, it's nostalgic and there are cute designs on the cookies, but CANDY CANE CREME IS A RIPOFF!!! And remember when I said they were fantastic? They're not.

This is nothing more than Oreo Mint with a new (smaller) package and no green dye. They couldn't even be bothered to give us little bits of candy cane? I would've settle for specks of red dye. Come to think of it, I didn't even see Oreo Mint cookies in the Oreo section of the cookie aisle, so either they don't make'em anymore (which would be horrible) or Nabisco is hoping we "forget" the similarities this season.

How dare Nabisco sully the holiday season by scamming us good consumers all so that they can line their pockets? Buyer beware.

Totally Bangable 80s Sitcom Chicks

In the 1980s, though I was but a child, I was still a male. So, yes, there were many a women who got my erector set going. My favorite type of show has always been the sitcom (I don't go for that Office/Ugly Betty/My Name is Earl/Scrubs kind of comedy format), so let's look back at a few of the hotter chicks from the Reagan era...

Joyce DeWitt
Three's Company
I always felt Suzanne Somers was overrated. Janet is where it's at.

Valerie Bertinelli
One Day at A Time
An early crush for me, she's just sooooooooooooo darn cute and now she's a MILF!

Photobucket

Lisa Whelchel
The Facts of Life
Sure, she played stuck up snobby Blair, but she was absolutely gorgeous. What guy wouldn't want to be ordered around by her?

Nancy McKeon
The Facts of Life
The polar opposite of Lisa Whelchel's Blair character, Nancy played Jo and was the tomboy every boy wanted to know. One of my earliest TV crushes.

Tiffiani-Amber Theissan
Saved By The Bell
One of the first girls where I realized something was going on "down there". Possibly one of the hottest girls to ever grace TV. Just take a look at this promo shot, the producers of SBTB definitely knew they had something here. Oh heck... Here's a second photo of her!

TNA Turning Point 2008 Predictions

Comin' at'cha LIVE from Universal Studios in beautiful Orlando, Florida, it's...

Photobucket

As the case with most TNA PPVs, the card looks good, but there's always that pesky TNA booking that has the potential to screw it all up. Maybe they should start outsourcing a booking team?

Bold is my predicted winner.

DOUBLE MAIN EVENT TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match
Sting (c) vs. AJ Styles

This should be a pretty good match. I think it deserves a bigger build up because it feels like an afterthought in the case of the Main Event Mafia vs. the Mid-Card Cartel. Sting vs. AJ just seems, to me, like the kind of big money match (well, big money on the TNA scale) that should be given a long, careful build.

Sting is definitely not dropping the title so soon into this MEM thing. I'm sure you can count on a number of MEM members to interfere and cost AJ the match.

DOUBLE MAIN EVENT Revenge Match
Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash

I'm tempted to say Nash is going to win, just because I think TNA is going to have the MEM run over the young guys for the majority of this angle, but I assume they actually have Joe/Sting in mind to culminate this storyline, so there's no need for Joe to lose here.

I suspect Main Event & Mid-Card members will do some interfering here.

TNA Legends Championship Match (Cage joins the MEM if he loses)
Booker T (c) vs. Christian Cage

Wow, what a worthless title. Anyway, in a bit of foreshadowing, if Cage loses he has to join the Mafia. And I guess if Cage wins he becomes a legend. So guess who's winning?

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match
Beer Money, Inc. (c) vs. Motor City Machineguns

Eh, this can really go either way I guess. MCMG seems like a team TNA doesn't really want to push, but going by TNA booking logic, Beer Money should lose because Tenay & West were really hyping them up as a great tag team this past week on iMPACT!.

I'll pick the Guns based on that plus I think they'll betray the Mid-Card and become lackeys for the MEM.

Kurt Angle vs. Abyss

I'm getting Angle vs. Kane flashbacks! Hopefully, this match will be just as good.

Grudge Match
Rhino vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir

Who did Rhino tick off in TNA?

Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed vs. Taylor Wilde & Roxxi

Time to give some heat back to the girls.

X Division Championship Seeding Match (whatever that turns out to be)
Sonjay Dutt vs. Eric Young vs. Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Petey Williams vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Homicide vs. Doug Williams vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Volador

I hope they didn't sign former IWGP champ Tanahashi (or Volador for that matter) just to do jobs.

Christmas Movies I'm Ashamed I Don't Own Yet

So I'm sitting here watching Elf (because my fiancee wanted to, it's one of her favorite holiday movies) and going over my Christmas video collection and it got me thinking about what I *don't* own and probably should. There's actually not too much out there these days left for me to capture (after He-Man & She-Ra: A Christmas Special, it's kinda all downhill). Then again, if they start putting out Christmas episodes of random 80s sitcoms THAT could complete my life. ...<< MORE >>

Peppermint Ice Cream & Pumpkin Spice Creamers... It Must Be the Holiday Season!

Holiday commercials are already running rampant all over my TV and all the retail chains are getting a major makeover for the holidays. Heck, just two nights ago in Wal-Mart while we were grocery shopping, Christmas music was being piped in over in their promo aisle!

This makes me happy. As much as I love Halloween, it cannot compare to Christmas. So TONIGHT ON THIS VERY BLOG, I say to you that the holiday season has begun at The Metal Misfit! It won't be all Christmas all of the time, but from here until the end of the year, be prepared for many Christmas posts to be peppered throughout this month & December.

Anyway, the inspiration for this post comes in the form of ice cream & coffee creamers (as if you couldn't guess). I'm sure I praised Edy's holiday flavors last year, but so what. They deserve a shout out every single year!

While stomping through Wal-Mart about 2 weeks ago, I came across the always delicious Edy's Peppermint ice cream with real peppermint candy bits! Mmm mmm good! Now, I've talked about the urban legend that is McDonald's peppermint sundae here and here, and while there's no progress on getting McDonald's to smarten up and bring it back, Edy's Peppermint ice cream is very nearly the exact same thing flavor-wise. Buy it by the case and savor it all winter long.

The second wonderful flavor from Edy's is Egg Nog! I LOVE egg nog and feel it should be served all year 'round. It gives me goosebumps though to walk into the local QD (Quality Dairy) and see 20 ounces, half gallons and gallons of the good stuff in their cooler. I think I had the Egg Nog last year, but I can't remember. Wouldn't matter, it's Christmastime again and you celebrate it by eating Egg Nog ice cream. So I picked THIS flavor up a few nights ago and had my first bowl this evening. It's good. Definitely has the egg nog flavor down to a tee, but I prefer Peppermint overall.

There's also Pumpkin Pie and Apple Pie flavors (pumpkin is great, I wouldn't dare try apple though), but their time is over on the shelves.

I'm a huge fan of coffee. I love Starbucks' pumpkin spice frappuccinos and their cinnamon dolce fraps as well, even during winter. For some reason, when we got out to get coffees, I always get fraps. For some reason, I just feel hot coffee is best enjoyed at home. I make it often during the evenings and while I usually enjoy Irish cream, I use amaretto and french vanilla flavored creamers (hazelnut too, if the woman forces me) from time to time as well.

But now? Now that fall is here and winter is creeping up? It's time to get down and dirty with Coffee-mate holiday flavors! I picked up Pumpkin Spice the other night, and I'm sure it'll be great. Peppermint Mocha I remember from last year and probably would've gotten it if I saw it on the shelf. Gingerbread and Eggnog I have tried over the past 2 years and both were horribly disappointing. Looking back, something that's hot and eggnog flavored doesn't sound all that tempting, but GINGERBREAD? How could *that* be bad? Well, it was. It was just "off" for some reason.

Anyway, at least it's nice to see all the special holiday flavors rearing their head again.

Happy Birthday to me...

Tomorrow's my birthday! Hitting the big 2-7.

I actually have to work tomorrow (that's what I get for requesting Halloween off), but it won't be too bad as it's a short closing shift. Oh well.

Tonight a nice steak dinner was held in my honor and I made off with Lego Batman for Nintendo Wii and Warner Bros' "Classic Christmas Favorites" DVD set featuring the original Grinch and some Rankin Bass holiday specials (we'll be talking about this later).

Many thanks

Thanks to any and all who came around this past month to read my sorry little posts, we kinda fizzled out at the end, but I think for the most part things went off pretty well.

See ya next year!

Halloween Scream 2008 Dream Schedule

So, yeah, posting what I had in mind isn't going to happen. But while I'm flipping back and forth between all kinds of Halloween/horror goodness this evening, I'm wondering what *I* would put on TV for October 31st if I was running Turner Classic or AMC or something like that (MMTV?).

I'm not gonna worry about the logistics of air times and running times, but I think this would make for an awesome Halloween:

Dracula (1931)
Frankenstein (1931)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Halloween (1978)
Friday the 13th (1980)
Pumpkinhead (1988)
The Wolf Man (1941)
Fright Night (1985)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Phantasm (1979)
Horror of Dracula (1958)
The Evil Dead (1981)
The Addams Family (1991)
Trick Or Treat (1986)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I hope you are all having a great Halloween and will have a great Halloween night as well. It's no secret I took the day off JUST to watch all kinds of Halloween goodness on TV.

So far, I've watched The Dead Next Door, House of Dracula, and Son of Dracula. As for tonight? I dunno. I'm torn between the Halloween edition of WWE Smackdown or another horror movie! Oh well, even if I do watch wrestling, I crank up another horror movie after that (I'm leaning towards Phantasm).

Now, I must shamefully admit I had a special treat planned with today's final Halloween Scream 2008 entry. But I'm having some technical difficulties getting it uploaded. I'll try to work on it tonight, but no promises.

In the meantime, enjoy movies, enjoy candy (I bought a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups and a huge bag of Snickers/Starbursts/Three Musketeers/Twix), and go to a party and bang a girl dressed as a "sexy" whatever. And if you're a girl reading, this I *STILL* suggest you go to a party and bang a girl dressed as a "sexy" whatever.
